Symptom
IMG activities that are frequently required in the daily operation (for example, maintaining exchange rates), can be declared as a current setting as of Release 3.0F. You maintain these current settings directly in the production system to avoid the work in any transport that might be required.
SAP already defines IMG activities as current settings within the standard delivery. However, it is possible that an activity is not defined as a current setting in the standard system, but that the customer wants to use it as such. You can then proceed as described below to include this activity in the current settings.
For technical or content reasons, it may not be possible to define an individual IMG activity as a current setting. In this case, carry out maintenance according to the standard procedure in the customizing system and transport the settings into the production system.

Reason and Prerequisites
Note: The only case in which the usual checks on whether the client setting permits maintenance would not be carried out, is if a client is defined as a production client.
Solution
- Procedure in Release 3.0(>F), 3.1, 4.0 and 4.5
1. Determine the name of the activity. To do this, navigate to the required activity in the IMG. Via menu option Information -> Title and key, the technical name of the activity is displayed. For example SIMGxxxx.
2. Determine the name of the area menu. Proceed as follows: To see for which menus SAP has already defined current settings, display the area menu names in the Table CUSAMEN in the Field "MENU". In the table, the entries are in the form MENUyyyy, yyyy being the name of the area menu.
- If you find a suitable menu in the Table CUSAMEN, copy the respective entry "MENUyyyy" for your new entry. The new activity then appears in the current settings list for this area menu.
- If you do not find a suitable entry in the Table CUSAMEN, then it is difficult to enter the new current setting in another menu. In this case, enter "MENUZZZZ" as a menu name for the new entry in step 3.
3. Call Transaction SM30, and enter CUSAMEN as the table name. Select the Function 'Maintain' and create the new entry. In the Field 'Menu name' enter the area menu name given in step 2. In the 'Class' field enter "SIMG". In the Field 'Doc.object' enter everything from the fourth character of the name determined in step 1 (that is, without the prefix "SIMG"). In the example above you would enter "XXXX" in the Field 'Doc.object'.
4. When you save the entry newly created in step 3, the current setting indicator is set at the same time in the corresponding Customizing object. This means the original SAP object is changed. Therefore, a repair is necessary here. If you cannot or do not want to carry out this repair, cancel this change. In this case, the indicator is not set. To set the indicator, proceed according to Note 77430.
Note: It is best to make the entry in the Table CUSAMEN in the development system and then transport it. The setting of the current setting indicator on the Customizing object can either be transported as well, or it can be set in the follow up system as in Note 77430.
Note also that the change you make to the Customizing object might be reset after an upgrade. You then have to adjust the indicator again as in Note 77430.
- Procedure as of Release 4.6
To do this, open the IMG and display the IMG structure. Position the cursor on the corresponding IMG activity and select the menu path "Edit -> Display IMG activity". On the following screen, select the Tab "Maint.objects". A list of the assigned Customizing objects is displayed. By double-clicking on the corresponding row, navigate to the Customizing object and set the Indicator "Current settings" directly.
Alternatively, call Transaction SOBJ. Here, you enter the Customizing object and set the indicator directly.
Note: As of release 4.6 the Table CUSAMEN is no longer used. Making entries in this table no longer takes effect on the system. In particular, you can no longer execute the report mentioned in Note 77430 as of Basis release 4.6. If you do this you could lose definitions whose objects are current settings.
If you want to include IMG activities that are current settings, in the easy access menu, enter them directly into the system. In IMG in the upper area of the screen of he IMG activity display, a transaction code assigned to the activity is displayed, as soon as the IMG activity is a current setting. Using Transaction SE43, insert this transaction in the appropriate menu.
- Release-independent note:
- 1. To use current settings in the test system, refer to Note 356483.
- 2. If you use an IMG activity as a current setting in the production system, check whether the maintenance and automatic recording of changes in a transport order of the same data is still to be permitted in the customizing system/customizing client. By importing customizing settings from the customizing system, values that were maintained via the current settings in the production system are overwritten. Therefore, check whether it makes sense to turn off automatic recording for this specific activity. To turn recording off, proceed as described in Note 356483. Note the restriction given to certain object types. For type "T" objects in particular, it might not be possible to turn automatic recording off.
